The product was delivered on time. the product has perfromed to manufacturers specification. I woud condier buying more from Seagate.
I chose this device because it has a long warranty and it fits my portable drive enclosure. It is fast and holds all I could ever want. It wasn't too much money either.
I've heard good things about Seagate and it's proving to be true. You would probably have to format the old drive if you want to use it as extra space. I'd gotten along with the 20 gigs for several years and the price was too good to pass up for the Seagate. Going from 20 gigs to 160 gig is quite a jump. I put off getting a new hard drive for a long time, being apprehensive about installing it my self. It all went very smoothly with me and I'm very pleased.Due to a common partitioning problem, my PC only recognized 149 gigs of the 160 of the drive. We would want to confuse our PC, would we. They do recommend you disconnect it to keep your PC from having two drives to boot up.
I've been around long enough to know that anything that man makes can go wrong and nothing is 100%. Just follow the on screen instructions. But as you know space goes on a PC. I read one review stating it did not copy every thing to the new drive, but that wasn't the case with me. The drive had just been discontinued, but I had no problem with that.Installation was easy and the CD that came with the unit had the installation program that will duplicate every thing on your old drive to the new. You have the option to leave your old hard drive in the PC. It seems by other reviews it went well more times than it didn't. That can be rectified, but I settled for the 149.Cheers.
The directions were a little unclear, but I figured it out and it is running great. I bought this hard drive to upgrade my existing computer. It was well worth the money and I could not be happier. I used the ghosting software to move my existing software to the new hard drive. I took about an hour and a half for the whole process. It arrived just as expected and in perfect condition. I shopped around and this was one of the best deals online.
I have experienced no data-loss. When the Western Digital HD that came with my PC was starting to sound like a jet getting ready for take-off at JFK, I decided to replace it. I have been using the new HD for about a month w/ no problems. I went with a Seagate HD since I had read good reviews about their quality and reliability. It was not the least expensive HD out there, but I wanted quality, so I spent the extra bucks. It turned-out to be a GREAT choice. The drive installed in 5 minutes and the s/w that came with it allowed me to "clone" my existing drive in about 20 minutes. This Seagate HD is so quiet, you can hardly tell the pc is on.Hats-off to Seagate for a fine product. I'm very happy with the purchase.
